Former Union Minister P Shiva Shankar joins Praja Rajyam Party

With the joining of former Union Minister P Shiva Shankar in Praja Rajyam party, it appears that the party received some boost with his entry. Shiva Shankar who quit the Congress in 2004 and since then, he is keeping away from active politics. A legal expert, Shiv Shankar was a close aide of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and severed as a minister in her Cabinet. He also was a member of the Cabinet under Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao.

Speaking to media persons in the presence of Chiranjeevi, he pointed out that while resigning from Congress in 2004, he had alleged that party tickets in the State were being sold. There was no response to either his resignation or the allegations made by him. He hinted that more Congress leaders would join the Praja Rajyam Party.

Chiranjeevi welcomed Shiv Shankar into the party by offering party shawl and described him as a family friend and hoped that his vast experience would hep the Party. Chiranjeevi reacting the comments made by BJP senior leader LK Advani that he looked forward to working with the Praja Rajyam Party. He admitted that he spoke to him over phone but never met him.
