November 19, 2008

Following a complaint by A Kumaraswamy of Karimnagar district, IV Additional Munsif Magistrate G Bhavani Chandra directed the Kazipet police to register a case against the Praja Rajyam Party president, Chiranjeevi under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He asked the police to inquire into the entire issue, registering a case under Sec.3(1)(10) of SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act under Sections 337, 338, 506 and 507 of IPC and submit a detailed report by December 29, 2008.

It may be recalled Chiranjeevi was on Warangal tour recently as a part of the Telangana segment of Praja Ankita Yatra. According to sources, Kumaraswamy said that when he along with his associates were waiting at KUC junction at Kazipet with placards on November 3 as he had promised that his party would work for the uplift of the weaker sections. Chiranjeevi called on him and enquired as to why they were holding placards. When he reminded him of his promise, Chiranjeevi reportedly said he had nothing to talk to them if they belonged to the Madiga Community.

Chiranjeevi was also accused of asking his driver to move ahead and due to rash driving, the complainant and his associate were injured. He lodged a complaint with the Kazipet police who reportedly referred him to MGM Hospitals where he was treated as an out patient. Meanwhile, the leaders of the party staged dharnas across the State in protest against the attack on the leaders allegedly by Congressmen on Tuesday night. Lok Satta Party condemned the alleged vandalism by Congress workers and appealed to all political parties to try to win people's heart.
