Former Union Minister Upendra joins Praja Rajyam Party

November 24, 2008
Hyderabad

The former Union Minister, P Upendra on Monday after joining in Praja Rajyam Party said at a press congress warned the Left parties that there would be a repeat of 1983 when they spurned the late NTR's offer of an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party if they continued to dilly dally on the issue of joining hands with Praja Rajyam.

It may be recalled that Upendra who was with the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress before joining in Praja Rajyam said that enough had been discussed by the Left Parties. He said that the Left parties did not appear to be inclined for a political friendship, there was no reason to expect them.

In response to a question about the comparison of the political situation at the time of NT Rama Rao launched the TDP and with Chiranjeevi launching Praja Rajyam, he said that while then, there was an intense anti Congress wave that made the going easy for NT Rama Rao, the Praja Rajyam would find it tough because now there was a triangular fight. As far as the Congress rule is concerned, he said that the man at the Centre is good but the performance is bad while in the State, the both are bad.

Upendra is the latest Union Minister to join PRP after Shiva Shankar who joined the party recently. More prominent politicians are joining Praja Rajam as the party is gaining strength in the people.
