Praja Rajyam Party not averse to separate Telangana

The Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi at last has borken the silence on the Telangana issue. He said that the party would not oppose creation of the statehood of Telangana region if the Centre initiated measures for bifurcation of the state. He urged the people of Telangana to pressure the Centre to speed up the process. During his Praja Ankita Yatra Phase II that entered in Karimnagar district, he charged the political parties that they are using the Telangana only to benefit politically. Few days earlier, Dr Mitra said that their stand of Telangana is put on hold and that what ever Chiranjeevi said at the Tirupati public meeting will hold good.

Meanwhile, his articulation of the party’s position on the Statehood question has set off reactions among all others in the State. The Congress reacted with caution and warned its leaders against commenting on it even as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi said that if the Congress took a decision it would have no objection to working with it in the next election.

Meanwhile, in New Delhi, Congress general secretary and AP Affairs in charge Veerappa Moily claimed that the Congress is committed to the formation of separate State. APSRTC Chairman and senior Congress leader M Satyanarayana Rao who hails from the district in which Chiranjeevi broke his Statehood silence.
