Praja Rajyam Party to set up help centre at Sircilla

October 7, 2008
Hyderabad

The Chairman of the Praja Rajyam Party, KSR Murty speaking media said that the party has decided to go in for the rescue of Sircilla weavers. He said that the center would help the weavers who are in distress. He added that the workers would go to the weaver's houses and find out the problems.

Murty said that the center would consist of psychologists and psychiatrists to counsel the distressed. The committee would visit Nagari in Chittoor district to over see the power looms industry there and find out why Nagari industry is thriving while Sircilla is not and would submit a report to the party president about the situation before the month end.

Murty alleged that the State Government is virtually absent in Sircilla and was surprised to note that there was no powerloom expert in the State Textiles Department. The helpline that was established by the government is non-existent, he said. It may be recalled Chiranjeevi has visited weavers of Siricilla region on September 20, 2008. However, few politicians termed the move as a political stunt.
