Praja Rajyam party president may likely to hit the roads in the first week

September 27, 2008
Hyderabad

In all likelyhood, the Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi is likely to hit the roads any day between October 1st to 3rd as planned earlier. The proposed tour raises the curtain on his headlong jump into the midst of the people. Till now, he has been making attempts to gauge the response of the people by making short and quick forays into their midst after announcing the formation of his party in Tirupati. He made a surprise visit to Sircilla in Karimnagar and Polepalli in Mahabubnagar where he commiserated with farmers whose lands had been acquired by the government.

At a meeting with his confidants, Chiranjeevi gave the green signal for his organizers to fix the itinerary. He is likely to start his yatra from Srikakulam. He is likely to unmask his tour programme with details of where he would begin it and how he wants to go about interacting with the people. The proposed tour has already generated considerable interest not only in the political circles but also among the people of the State.

The tour will be the fourth such mega exercise undertaken by politicians since 1983. Former Chief Minister and founder of Telugu Desam Party, late NT Rama Rao set the trend by making up a tour across the State. Even Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the year 2003 who was the then Opposition leader of the Congress Legislature Party went on padayatra and was successful in turning the tables against the then Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu in 2004 elections.
