PRP announces its contesting candidates list

The Praja Rajyam Party president announced the first list of weaker sections for the Assembly and Lok Sabha in a village near Jaggampet in East Godavari district on Friday. Out of 100 names announced, he allotted 73 candidates belongs to weaker sections keeping his promise of social justice.

Out of the 100 candidates announced, 48 candidates belongs to Backward Classes, 13 for Scheduled Castes, 7 for Scheduled Tribes and 5 for minorities while eight of the nine nominees for the Lok Sabha also fall in the category. He said that the PRP had set a new precedent by fielding ST candidates even for general seats. It appears that almost all prominent leaders and ex-MLAs who switched over from other parties are being fielded.

The prominent candidates announced include Tammineni Sitaram from Amudalavalasa, K Kala Venkata Rao from Etcherla, K Jogulu for Rajam SC, Ganta Srinivasa Rao from Anakapalli, E Peddi Reddy from Husnabad, Shoba Rani from Alair SC, B Shoba Nagi Reddy from Allagadda, B Veda Vyas from Masulipatnam all for the Assembly and T Devender Goud fro Malkajgiri for the Lok Sabha. Former IPS officer, DT Naik for Mahabubabad ST Lok Sabha seat. Unsuccessful aspirants of the Praja Rajyam too staked rebellion with the former MLA Gorle Haribabu announcing his resignation from the party.
