Congress-PRP merger in another 10-15 days

The Congress and Praja Rajyam Parties merger is still in the process of review and a final report from the Election Commission is still awaited, said PRP President Chiranjeevi, speaking to the media in New Delhi. He expressed hope that the two parties will officially merge in another 15 days time.

Congress Andhra Pradesh-State affairs In-charge Gulam Nabi Azad said that the cade of PRP, including Chiranjeevi and other experienced politicians of the party will get due importance and positions in the Congress party. Azad said that because of his hectic schedule, he could not meet with the PRP partymen and has hence requested them to come over to Delhi. He expressed hope that the PRP will become a good value addition for the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh.

Chiranjeevi said that his discussions with Azad were mostly on how to strengthen the party in the state. He said that he has not yet come to the stage of playing active role in the internal affairs of the Congress party yet and that he will take some time to reach to that level.

Meanwhile media reports say that Chiranjeevi is likely to get a Minister of State rank and independent charge and that the Congress high command is making moves to make Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Senior Congressman and Rajya Sabha member Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy as a Governor. Congress supremo Ms Sonia Gandhi is likely to invite Janardhan Reddy for this.
